The Need
Beardsley Zoo is interested in a highly practical, implementable, and effective approach to stimulating a healthy and sustainable organization. The competition for funding, visitors, and awareness necessitate an innovative approach to identifying new and expanded philanthropic opportunities.
The Solution
TGC partnered with the Zoo to perform a development office audit to assess whether the office infrastructure, fundraising capabilities, systems and culture are sufficient to implement a comprehensive giving program. We worked with the Zoo to create an environment where the board and development staff can thrive and where the fundraising programs are attractive to their donors. TGC crafted the Zoo’s Case for Support and prepared a three-year giving plan and strategy.
The Impact
The Zoo with TGC as counsel is implementing a three-year strategic development plan with a focus on donor acquisition in preparation for a comprehensive capital and endowment campaign celebrating the Zoo’s upcoming 100th anniversary. Short-term goals include the development of a series of exhibit and educational specific case statements to encourage major gift support.
